I will overwhelm 'legitimate fighter' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

The British boxer will face the American YouTuber in an eight-round match which will be streamed live on Netflix.

British boxer Joshua stated he will "stamp all over" Jake Paul and "break" the American as the combatants met personally to build hype for the upcoming bout.

Ex two time world title holder Joshua meets social media star turned fighter Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a huge disparity - at Miami's Kaseya Center on December 19th.

Fighter's Mindset

"I will injure his face and break his body up. I'm here to prove my superiority," Joshua, 35, stated.

"I plan to overwhelm him. That's how fighters think.

"I'm going to really want to hurt him. That's my intention."

Respectful Interaction

Despite such comments, a relaxed Joshua and internet personality Jake Paul - typically famous for his showmanship - were respectful and remained civil with each other.

Paul instead attacked former Joshua rival Francis Ngannou and called him "ridiculous" after the Cameroonian rejected a bout proposal.

Taking Aim at Fury

Anthony Joshua, meanwhile, took aim at UK opponent Tyson Fury - and declined a £1m bet 'The Gypsy King' claims he will make on a Paul win.

"Jake Paul outshines Tyson Fury - he's actually sitting here," Joshua commented.

"I respect him for that."

Legitimate Fighter

Despite declaring he will damage his opponent, Joshua refused to comment unfavorably about his opponent's pugilistic talent.

"Jake is a legitimate boxer," he stated.

Paul's Background

Jake Paul - who originally gained popularity on the Disney Channel - has primarily boxed mixed martial artists or past-their-prime fighters since turning professional.

He lost to Briton Tommy Fury in 2023.

Commercial Success

Still, the novice remains one of the sport's greatest financial successes, consistently making substantial paydays.

Forecast and Confidence

The 28 year old forecast a knockout win in the fourth or fifth round and claimed he would prevent the long-awaited Joshua–Fury fight, which is apparently under discussion for 2026.

"The next fight will be my match with Fury in the coming year," Jake Paul said.

Physical Disparity

As both boxers met for the usual face-off, with their height and weight contrast on show, it drove home just how improbable this complete situation is - and how amazing it is that the match is really going ahead.
